The Whole Line Is Connected! Gezhouba Hydropower Clean Energy Delivery Opens Up Important Power Transmission Channels

The 500 kV Gejun Line was put into operation in 1983. It has been 40 years. The equipment is old and the operating conditions are poor, so it is in urgent need of renovation. The construction of the renovation project undertaken by State Grid Hubei Power Transmission and Transformation Engineering Co., Ltd. starts at Gezhouba Hydropower Station and ends at Jinghe Village, Jiyukou Town, Qianjiang City, Hubei Province, passes through 7 counties and cities including Yichang City, Jingzhou City, Jingmen City, Qianjiang City, Hubei Province. The length of the path is 143.8 kilometers. A total of 167 towers were built, 162 towers were demolished, and 214 towers were used. The old 214-base tower and the ground guide line were demolished totaling 141.064 kilometers. The construction line spanned the Yangtze River, expressways, railways, national highways and power lines of different grades 212 times, and it took 159 days to complete the construction task.

The renovation project is one of the key steps for Hubei Power Grid to build the "Gezhouba-Three Gorges" dual power transmission grid, realize the electrical separation of the Three Gorges and Gezhouba power transmission systems at the transmission end, build the dual power grid structure of the Three Gorges and Gezhouba power transmission systems in western Hubei, and strengthen the Gezhouba power transmission system. After power production and transmission, it will open up an important transmission channel for the delivery of hydropower and clean energy from Gezhouba.
